ADHD Assessments

The ADHD assessment will determine an individual’s overall level of intelligence (including areas of strength and weakness), attentional capabilities (including the administration of a computer-based continuous performance test (CPT)), and executive functioning skills.  This is a comprehensive diagnostic assessment during which standardized tests and behavioural questionnaires are administered.  When appropriate, emotional factors that may influence an individual’s functioning will also be explored. This is a half-day assessment.

What is our Process?

Step 1

A Review of Relevant History

  • A detailed, semi-structured interview with parents and client (if appropriate) regarding current concerns and developmental history.
  • Review of relevant documentation (e.g., report cards, previous assessments, doctors’ letters, etc.).
Step 2

Assessment of Cognitive, Behavioural, and Emotional Functioning

  • Administration of standardized intelligence measure (e.g., WISC-V or WAIS-IV), and supplemental cognitive measures to examine sustained attention and executive functioning (planning/organization).
  • Administration of questionnaires to explore behavioural functioning, and emotional concerns, if necessary.
Step 3

Presentation of Results

  • After the assessment results have been thoroughly reviewed by the assessor and/or a supervising psychologist, parents and/or client (if appropriate) will participate in a comprehensive feedback consultation.
  • A full written report will follow, which will include assessment-related data, as well as recommendations and strategies to assist with personal and academic functioning.
