What is our Process?

Step 1

A Review of Relevant History

  • A detailed, semi-structured interview with parents and client (if appropriate) regarding current concerns and developmental history.
  • Review of relevant documentation (e.g., report cards, home videos, previous assessments, doctors’ letters, etc.).
Step 2

Assessment of Cognitive, Behavioural, and Emotional Functioning

  • Administration of standardized intelligence measure (e.g., WPPSI-IV, WISC-V, or WAIS-IV).
  • Administration of a variety of questionnaires exploring behavioural and emotional concerns.
Step 3

 Administration of the ADOS-2

  • The ADOS-2 is a semi-structured assessment of communication, social interaction, and play (or imaginative use of materials) for individuals suspected of having autism spectrum disorder.
  • The ADOS-2 is appropriate for children and adults of differing developmental and language levels.
  • The ADOS-2 assessment will be video recorded so that the assessor will be able to study the participant's response to each activity.
Step 4

Presentation of Results

  • After the assessment results have been thoroughly reviewed by the assessor and/or a supervising psychologist, parents and/or client (if appropriate) will participate in a comprehensive feedback consultation.
  • A full written report will follow, which will include assessment-related data, as well as recommendations and strategies to assist with personal and academic functioning.
